Según la Asociación de Bomberos Uniformados, 26 estaciones de bomberos en los cinco condados de la ciudad de Nueva York han sido cerradas temporalmente debido a la escasez de personal causada por bomberos no vacunados.
El alcalde Bill de Blasio dio como fecha límite a las 5:00 pm del viernes 29 de octubre para que los socorristas reciban al menos una inyección de la vacuna Covid. Aquellos que no se vacunaron en ese momento fueron puestos en licencia sin goce de sueldo.
Según un comunicado de prensa de la representante Nicole Malliotakis y el concejal Joe Borelli, las estaciones cerradas incluyen E55, E59, L18, L34 y L36 en Manhattan; E219, E231, E234, E239, E309, E332, L146, L149 y L176 en Brooklyn; E286, E287 y L128 en Queens; E46, E48, E73 y L17 en el Bronx, y E152, E158, L78 y L86 en Staten Island.
